Ahmed Mourad is a photographer, graphic designer and novelist who has won several awards for his short films. His first novel Vertigo, published in 2007, was enormously successful and has been reprinted eight times. It tells the story of a photographer who finds himself drawn into the criminal underworld of Mubarak’s Egypt after seeing a friend killed in a nightclub fight between business rivals.

Ahmed’s second novel, Torab Al Mas (Diamond Dust) was published in 2010 and was inspired by a visit to the Jewish neighbourhood in Old Cairo.
