Ghassan Suleiman Amhaz has worked extensively in journalism and public relations and is an authority on the history of aviation in the Gulf.

He worked as a journalist at Al Bayan, a leading Arabic newspaper of the UAE, from 1981-98, during which time he covered the aviation industry and witnessed the dramatic expansion of Dubai International Airport. In August 1998, he joined the Marketing and Corporate Communications Department of what was at that time the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (now known as Dubai Airports).

His authoritative book, Civil Aviation in Dubai – History and Future (1937-2020), launched in March 2011 by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, was the first Arabic book of its kind on the aviation sector. The English edition, From the Creek to the Skies, was launched by H. H Sheikh Ahmed during the Dubai Airshow 2011.
