Judith Hornok is a Viennese-born journalist and communications specialist. She has worked for European and Arabian newspapers, magazines and TV networks since 1996. She also moderates business panels and presents seminars and workshops on the subject of cultural understanding between the Arab Countries and the West. In November 2007, she participated in the Festival of Thinkers in Abu Dhabi, where she was debating 'Ethics and Ideals in the International Press'. She has also hosted and moderated international panel discussions on the Gulf, and has delivered lectures on Women in the Gulf at Standford, Silicon Valley, USA (2010).
Her main interest is in trying to expand the bridges between the Arab World and Europe, and her book, Modern Arab Women: The New Generation of the United Arab Emirates, which is available in German and English, aims to give the wider world an insight into UAE women and to foster cultural understanding between the Arab world and the west, and between Emirati women themselves. It includes interviews with and portraits of some of the UAE´s most interesting female brains in the fields of the arts, business, medicine, sport, fashion and politics, including HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade; author Sara al-Jarawan; Muna Eissa Al Gurg, Chairwoman of Young Arab Leaders; athlete and the first-ever female racing car driver, Nahla Al Rostomani; and entrepreneur Amna Bin Hendi, to name but a few.
