Kes Gray has been listed by the Independent newspaper as one of the top ten children’s authors in the UK. In 2001 his first ever picture book, Eat Your Peas, pipped J K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to become overall winner of the prestigious Red House Children’s Book Award. The book was the happy result of a one-month sabbatical from his job writing television advertising campaigns, most notably for Prudential and the NSPCC.
He has since become a three times category winner and is the only author in the history of the award to win prizes for both picture books and fiction. His award-winning books include Billy’s Bucket, Vesuvius Poovius, 006 And A Bit and Daisy and The Trouble With Zoos. Kes likes his books to fizz and believes that children’s books should be fresh, insightful and fun.
