UAE-born Maitha Al Khayyat spent most of her childhood years in the US and UK and she first got hooked on books while in middle school in the UK and has never stopped reading or writing since. With an academic background in Business Administration, Maitha worked in a college library for a few years before opting for marriage and kids. Even as a mother of four kids, she still manages to find time to read all the time, to help in running a boutique her best friend owns, as a writer for Ajyaal Entertainment company in addition to writing children’s stories such as the charming Tareeqati Al Khassa.

I Love My Dad's Long Beard is her first book, which was inspired by her children who adore their daddy's long beard. She lives with her family in Ras Al Khaimah.

Maitha’s next book Tareeqati Al Khassa, about a little girl, Hamda, who longs to wear the hijab like her four sisters. The worldwide rights for Tareeqati Al Khassa, which Kalimat published in May 2010, have been acquired by UK based Orion Publishing. The book was awarded the prize for the best children’s book from the Riyadh-based International Forum On Children’s Education and Development
