David Nicholls, Brian Moore and David Almond on Talking of Books

The True Tale of the Monster Billy Dean - David AlmondOn Saturday 18 February there will be no fewer than three Emirates LitFest 2012 authors interviewed by Isobel Abulhoul, John MacDonald and the Talking of Books Team.

First up at 12:30pm, David Nicholls will be talking to Becky Kilsby and the Festival Book Club about his bestselling novel One Day, his varied career as a novelist and screenwriter, and how he will follow the success of One Day in his forthcoming fourth novel.

He will be followed by rugby star, sports journalist and lawyer Brian Moore at 1:30pm, on to speak to guest reviewer James Mullan about his autobiography Beware of the Dog. Brian has played at nearly every level of English and British rugby and was voted was voted Whitbread Rugby World Player of the Year in 1991. Beware of the Dog won the Best Autobiography award at the 2011 British Press Awards.

And at 2:30pm David Almond, author of Skellig, Clay and Kit's Wilderness, will speak to JESS students about his novel The True Tale of the Monster Billy Dean, a dark coming-of-age story that has been a hit with adults as well as children, and which was described by the Guardian as 'not only dramatically and emotionally suspenseful, [but also] vividly drawn and wonderfully well paced, as one might expect from a master storyteller'.

Talking of Books is broadcast on Dubai Eye 103.8 every Saturday from 12-3pm and features book news, author interviews and competitions to win Emirates LitFest tickets.
