Saeed Al Badi started his career in journalism as a military correspondent.  He joined the Abu Dhabi-based Arab daily Al Ittihad in 1997, becoming a correspondent covering disasters, famine and war.

He was Bureau Managing Editor of Al Ittihad in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and Managing Editor of the local and business news desk at Al Ittihad Headquarters in Abu Dhabi, before becoming Manager of the External Affairs Department at Abu Dhabi Media Company (formerly Emirates Media).

Since 2000, he has written a weekly column at Al Ittihad: ‘Bila Hodood’, meaning ‘Without Borders’. Always travelling, he has written about his journeys and experiences around the globe. He has also been a cinema critic and has appeared on TV to discuss arts and culture.

Saeed has also written several novels in Arabic: Jom-horiyyet Al Ard wannesaa (Republics of Earth and Women); Arab Al Shams wal Sultan (The Arabs of the Sun and the Sultan); Rehla fee Belaad Al Nara’yyn (A Journey in the Country of Two Fires); Mothakkaraat Rahhaala  (Diaries of a Traveller); Ma’a Mala’ekat Makka (With the Angles of Mecca); and Al Madinaa Al Mal’oona (The Cursed City).

Saeed is a member of the UAE Journalists Association, the Arab Union for Journalists and the International Federation of Journalists.
