Samir Saad Khalaf is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Centre for Behavioural Research, American University of Beirut. He has held academic appointments at Princeton, Harvard, MIT and New York University.
He is the co-editor, with Roseanne Saad Khalaf, of Arab Society and Culture (2009), a collection of essays by authors including Nawal El Saadawi, Suad Joseph, Amin Maalouf, Orhan Pamuk, Tariq Ramadan and Edward Said. The book examines recent social and cultural change in Arab societies and assesses the impact of increasingly global and mobile lifestyles on family structure, public space and private life.
