Wafa Tarnowska was born in Lebanon but has worked and lived in Australia, Lebanon, Poland, Cyprus, India and the UK. She has been in the UAE for the past five years, first as a head-hunter, now as CSR manager for an international law firm.

Wafa’s great passions in life, other than travelling and being a mother, are writing and translation. Her books for children include Dances With the Gods and The Seven Wise Princesses. The Atlas of Arabia and the Rest of the World was launched at the 2010 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. Her retelling of the Arabian Nights was nominated by the Smithsonian Magazine as one of the notable children’s books of 2010.

Wafa has translated numerous children’s books from English to Arabic for dual-language publisher, Mantra Lingua. She has also written articles on art and culture for Femme and Deco magazines. Wafa has an MA in Sociology from the American University of Beirut and a BA in Political Sciences from Melbourne University. She is fluent in Arabic, English, French and Polish, and is learning Italian.
