Tickets for the 2014 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature are now on sale.

The Main Programme lies at the heart of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature – a rich and diverse array of panel discussions, in-depth interviews, poetry readings, debates, workshops & masterclasses featuring authors from all over the world. It’s a chance to meet your favourite authors – or to discover someone new.
In October 2013 we began announcing the names of the authors attending in 2014. More details are being added to the site all the time so keep coming back for more news. You can also visit our revamped blog to see what our authors past and present have to say about writing, festivals and whatever else crosses their minds.
The 2014 Festival’s overarching theme is Metamorphosis, one of the great themes of storytelling from the earliest days of the written word through to the present. Many of the events we have planned will be informed by this theme.
We can also confirm that several favourite events from previous years will return, including Desert Stanzas, the Murder Mystery Dinner, the George Orwell Lecture, given this year by Jeremy Bowen, the Watani Debate, and the Quick Pitch with Luigi Bonomi.
New events for 2014 include Friday Rhythms, an evening of music and poetry featuring LiTTLe MACHiNe; Female Focus, a morning devoted to celebrating women’s achievements and exploring the challenges of modern society (men are definitely welcome); and Literary Idol, a cross between Pop Idol and Dragon’s Den, in which a panel of experts critique writers’ unpublished work, which will be read aloud by an actor. We have also teamed up with the all-new Dubai Food Festival to put on a greatly improved Cookery Strand of literary lunches, demonstrations and panels.
With the Festival becoming so large – more than 200 sessions, workshops and fringe performances will be taking place – we have started putting together guides to the various strands of events:
