Celebrating traditional Nabati poetry with Emirates LitFest
Since the 16th century, Nabati poetry has been an important part of life in the Arabian Peninsula. The form and content, literary significance, social function and historical value of Nabati make it a unique style of poetry. The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is pleased to host events that prove how this beautiful tradition of regional poetry is alive and well. The Festival, now in its sixth year, will be held from March 4-8 at the InterContinental Hotel Dubai Festival City.
On Thursday, students from all over the UAE and representing several nationalities perform poetry at the first Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre Qasidah Par Coeur Competition Final. The Nabati category will be particularly fascinating to watch. Don’t miss this new and exciting event!
The following day, rising Emirati stars Ali Ibrahim, Rashid Al Kashef and Falah Al Marri keep the literary treasure of Bedouin poetry alive with their stunning voices and delivery. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear these young poets as they begin their artistic journey.
The brand new Nabati Poetry evening is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to hear two of the most famous and well recognised Emirati poets in the Arab world, Mosabeh Al Kaabi and Mohammed Al Murr Balabad.
