Amal Al Agroobi
Amal Al Agroobi is a filmmaker whose documentaties include Half Emirati and the forthcoming The Brain that Sings, which follows the lives of children with autism in the UAE on their journey through music therapy. In 2013 she opened her production company, Alagroobi Films.
Amal gained a Master of Sciences in Neurosciences from University College London. While in London she obtained a certificate in short film production from the London Academy of Media, Film and TV, and a certificate in acting for film from Central St Martin’s School of Drama. She continued gaining experience in acting for TVCs and feature films. In 2011 she left the field of science to pursue her love for film and joined the production company Image Nation, Abu Dhabi on a 6-month traineeship programme.
In addition to her filmmaking, she founded ILOVEUAE, a platform/directory with the aim of promoting/advertising Emiratis through advertising talents, relevant events, products and businesses. She also founded Emirates Cancer Foundation, an education-based portal and support group for cancer patients and caregivers in the UAE.
