Jody Ballard was born a global nomad in the territory of Hawaii. Her varied interests and experiences, along with excelling in trouble-making in her younger years, permeate her writing with a playful, balanced honesty.
After studying for her baccalaureate and master’s degrees from University of Maryland and Boston University by way of Paris, Jody settled into work as a licensed clinical professional counselor. She met and married the love of her life and began the juggle of family and vocation. Focus, commitment, and a relentless curiosity continue to serve her well in creating a dynamic life.
Jody is well known for developing new and unconventional ideas and for applying her transformational leadership skills on numerous communities professionally and personally, notably the Women’s Wellness Programs she has developed. She founded Strategic Wellness Systems, a business dedicated to assisting individuals and families in obtaining balance through the five essential components of health: physical, psychological spiritual, relational and mental.
A Bohemian at heart, Jody reinvented herself as both an oil painter and a novelist. Her works are sincere and fearless, embracing human dynamics with an honest ferocity. Her rich and varied understanding of behavior and her relentless curiosity imbues her writing with unique insight into the dynamic nature of relationships.
In 2012 she penned a novel of historical literary fiction entitled The Smell of Mud. She is currently drafting her second novel which explores the issues of death and dying through the unique story of Tommy Moon.
