Khalaf Al Habtoor
Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor is a proud Arab and son of the UAE, who is committed to making our world a better place. Born of simple means, his early ambitions were modest: dreaming of moving his family out of their palm frond hut into a real house and of someday owning a shop. But destiny had plans far beyond his wildest imagination.
In May 1970, he launched his own contracting company, Al Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, with barely enough money for a start-up. Today, this former member of the UAE Federal National Council and member of the board of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the Chairman of the internationally-renowned Al Habtoor Groups of Companies, which is the umbrella for luxury hotels in the UAE, Lebanon and Hungary, as well as construction, real estate, automobile dealerships, car leasing, education and publishing ventures.
Khalaf Al Habtoor is globally respected, not only for his business successes, but also for his philanthropic endeavours, his astute political analyses and his support for international sports, such as tennis and polo. He draws wisdom from the founding fathers of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who helped him along his journey.
