Brian Moore was brought up by his adoptive parents in Halifax, Yorkshire. He studied law at Nottingham University and subsequently practiced as a litigation solicitor. He was recently awarded an LLD (Honorary Doctorate) for his services to the University.

During his rugby career he played at nearly every level of English and British rugby. He gained 64 Caps for England and went on two British Lions Tours – in 1989 and 1993. He was part of the England team when it won three Grand Slams, and in 1991 was voted Whitbread Rugby World Player of the Year.

He currently works for the BBC as a rugby co-commentator, while also pursuing a career in public speaking and acting as an expert witness in sports injury cases. He writes a regular column on rugby and one on general sport for the Daily Telegraph. He was shortlisted for Sports Journalist of the Year 2009 in the prestigious British Press Awards.

Brian’s autobiography, Beware of the Dog, was the William Hill Sports Book of the Year in 2010 and winner of the Best Autobiography award at the British Sports Book Awards 2011.
